About This Place

Located in the heart of Etobicoke, La Tortilleria is a vibrant Mexican restaurant that brings an authentic taste of Mexico right to 817 Kipling Ave. Celebrated for its dedication to traditional flavors and handmade tortillas crafted daily in-house, this gem offers a satisfying and authentic dining experience that resonates with both locals and visitors alike.

La Tortilleria’s menu is a delicious celebration of Mexican comfort food elevated with fresh, quality ingredients. Among the standouts are their burritos, large and generously filled with Mexican style rice, black beans, fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, sweet corn, asadero cheese, and a dollop of crema fresca, all wrapped in soft white flour tortillas. Served alongside crunchy nacho chips and salsa, it’s a harmonious blend of textures and flavors — creamy, cheesy, and faintly smoky — that will leave you craving more.

If you're seeking something with a satisfying crunch, the Tekzadillas are a must-try. These crispy flour tortilla shells loaded with black beans, fresh toppings, and your choice of protein deliver a perfect balance of crispiness and melty cheese. The brand-new Tekza Birria elevates this even further, combining birria beef with the original corn tostada crunch, black beans and asadero cheese for a rich, deeply flavorful bite that’s quickly becoming a fan favorite.

The beverage selection complements the food beautifully, featuring an enticing range of Mexican sodas like Jarritos in tropical pineapple, lime, and grapefruit flavors — their effervescence is just the right counterpoint to the mildly spicy and smoky profile of many dishes.

Beyond the food, La Tortilleria welcomes you with a casual, relaxed atmosphere perfect for an easy lunch or dinner. The friendly staff add to the warmth, going the extra mile to explain dishes and ingredients, enhancing your dining experience. Customers consistently praise their excellent customer service and the genuine passion behind the food. One vegan diner mentioned how the SoyRizo tacos and burritos were so flavorful and authentic, it was hard to believe they were meat-free. Families appreciate the portion sizes and the approachable flavors, with even kids enjoying the chicken tinga tacos.

For those wanting to bring the magic home, La Tortilleria also offers an array of fresh products — tortillas, chips, various salsas, and dips — making it easy to recreate Mexican street food delights in your own kitchen. This added layer makes La Tortilleria not just a place to eat but a haven for Mexican food enthusiasts exploring the rich world of spices and flavors beyond the restaurant walls.

Overall, whether you’re stopping by for a casual meal, grabbing favorites to cook with at home, or hunting down quality vegetarian and vegan options, La Tortilleria shines as a genuine slice of Mexican culinary culture in Etobicoke. Its understated location belies the treasure inside — flavorful food, handmade craftsmanship, and a welcoming vibe that invites you back time and again.

VEGAN/VEGETARIAN OPTIONS!!!!!! Went here for the first time as I was on the way to Purolator. Stopped in to this place and ordered 3 Soy-Rizo Tacos and my partner ordered the burrito Soy-Rizo bow. It was fantastic! The food was flavourful, mildly spicy and smoky flavoured, and honestly, being a newer Vegan myself, I could not tell the difference that this was not meat. It was delicious! The staff were super nice and helpful as well! It really shows in some of the other reviews here that some people are just petty and entitled, get off your high horse. 5**** to this place!

Food was delicious and the staff is super friendly. We had the chicken tinga and the original taco plate. That was enough for my two young kids and myself. I think a hungry adult would be good with a single order of tacos. Worth checking out.

Great food and friendly staff! This is more than just an eatery. They have all sorts of fresh products and ingredients to make your own Mexican food at home. Tortillas, chips, tons of sauces and dips. Check it out when you’re in the neighbourhood. You’ll find something you like. I tried their Los De Soy-Rizo Tacos (with their vegetarian chorizo). They were really good and came with salsa and salsa verde, which complemented them beautifully. Tortilla chips were on the side. I will be back to try their Tekzadilla!

Great underrated spot for tacos in the Etobicoke area. Delicious tacos especially the fish tacos with their green salsa sauce! Love that it comes with salsa chips as a side. The location is a bit of a random spot on Kipling but is worth the visit. It’s a very casual spot with a chill seating area even though I didn’t dine in, there’s a decent amount of seating. Overall, would come back again!

Food is delicious but a bit inconsistent. However, their corn tortillas ate the best, and they hand-make them in-house. They have the absolute best customer service and are extremely knowledgeable about the spices and items they sell. Great place for taco Tuesday or anytime

The best burrito I've ever had. La Tortilleria uses really great, fresh ingredients that that is immediately apparent when you take your first bite. Super friendly staff made it a pleasure to visit. They even have some ingredients for sale so you can up your own taco-game.

Food: I purchased "Cochinita Tacos". They tasted pretty good but were slightly salty but with the lime provided, it balanced it well. The tortilla was one layer but thick enough to prevent ripping. The added onions and cilantro was very complimentary to bring it all together. They provided 1 lime per taco and were very full. They also added nacho chips with the order, which were toasted with a good salty balance. Much appreciated Overall, I will return to try another dish and maybe one or two cochinta tacos to go

Authentic Mexican food and friendly staff! We have visited a few times and tried various menu options including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, chips, and guacamole. Everything is delicious and flavourful and tastes homemade. They have some tables inside for casual dining and a small patio in the summer. There is also a grocery area to buy some of their products including nacho chips, sauces, tortilla shells, and more. We use the back parking lot to the left of the building, which larger vehicles might find narrow, but we back into the spot without issues. Other reviewers mention the other parking lot or using the side road. La Tortilleria is our go-to place for Mexican food when in the area, so we will be back! :)
